Wedding talk is often focused on brides, and as such, bridal party discussions tend to hone in on bridesmaids. However, groomsmen have a lot to offer as well. They may not typically be the ones helping with DIY details (although you could always ask!) or throwing showers, but they are still a part of the support team. There have even been reports that groomsmen on average spend more to be in a wedding than bridesmaids do! All of this is to say that showing appreciation for the men standing up on the big day is important.

Often, gifts are used to show you care. While there are certainly other ways to say thank you to the special men in your life, a thoughtful present is still sure to mean a lot. Just like with bridesmaids, avoid the temptation to get something that they’d wear for the wedding. How often does the average guy really need cuff links? On a similar note, if one of your buddies has been a groomsman a few times before, there’s a strong chance he already has a flask with his name on it. Instead, consider individual gifts that cater to each man’s taste. This thoughtful gesture is sure to be appreciated more than a trinket bought in bulk.

Aside from presents, allowing the groomsmen a say in what they wear is always a kind thing to offer. So often brides are expected to get the opinion of bridesmaids for their dresses, while groomsmen are told to show up to a shop and rent what has already been picked out for them. It doesn’t have to change your entire vision, but letting their voices be heard can go a long way. If you want to be extra accommodating, perhaps you can allow the men to wear a suit they already own, or pick out their preferred style. After all, mismatched bridesmaid dresses are in vogue, so why should groomsmen still be forced to be matchy-matchy?

Remember to have some guys’ nights out along the way. The bachelor party shouldn’t be the only time you see these pals. Some brides choose to host a bridal luncheon in the days before the wedding, and there is certainly no reason groomsmen shouldn’t be treated to a similar meal.

7 Tips for Brides & Bridesmaids to Consider Before the Wedding

Beauty expert and nutritionist Kimberly Snyder shares her healthy weight loss advice.

Whether you’re the one who will be saying “I do” or you’ll be standing beside your best friend as a bridesmaid, it’s important to look and feel your best by the time the wedding day arrives. The best way to do this is to start preparing your body, skin, and mind in the months leading up to the big day – as opposed to trying to implement healthy habits just days or weeks before.

For some women, prepping for the wedding includes a starting workout plan to tone muscles, going on a diet to promote weight loss, or practicing yoga or meditation to ease the mind and eliminate stress. Whatever your preparation schedule may entail, the most important thing is that you do everything in moderation. Workout, but make sure you’re replenishing those calories lost with nutritious food that will help you feel just as good as you look. Diet if you wish, but don’t deprive yourself. Stay zen, but don’t forget to keep a schedule and attend your wedding-related appointments.

To receive more advice on what to do leading up to the wedding, we asked Kimberly Snyder, nutritionist and New York Times best-selling author of the Beauty Detox book series and Radical Beauty, to share her healthy tips for brides and bridesmaids!

Read Kimberly Snyder’s tips for brides and bridesmaids leading up to the wedding, below!

1. Drink a Glowing Green Smoothie
To have the most radiant, glowing skin you can ever imagine, the most important thing to eat leading up to your wedding would be plenty of leafy greens filled with valuable nutrients. Try the Glowing Green Smoothie, which you can drink every morning.

2. Cut Out Dairy
In the weeks leading up to your wedding, you should really consider cutting down on certain foods to ensure you feel your best on your big day. I highly recommend cutting out dairy, which is difficult for most everyone to digest in varying ways and can lead to bloating and digestive distress.

3. Cut Out Refined Sugar
Try cutting out refined sugar and agave, as they accelerate aging, free-radical damage, and the stiffening of collagen, which can create wrinkles. Your skin will look more bright and fresh.

4. Cut Back on Alcohol
It’s also a good idea to cut back on alcohol, which is dehydrating and depletes beauty vitamins and minerals. If you do want some alcohol here or there to celebrate, I recommend red wine, as it is high in antioxidants and not as hard on the liver compared to other forms of alcohol.

5. Drink Lemon Water
Add fresh lemon juice to your water throughout the day, and be sure to start every morning with a mug of hot water with lemon! Lemon aids with digestion by increasing the secretion of bile from the liver, while also acting as a strengthening agent to the liver’s enzymes. Lemon also supports digestion in the colon, promoting the elimination of waste more efficiently and regularly. It also acts as a blood purifier and as a cleansing agent to flush out bacteria and toxins in the body. These properties in aiding digestion also make it helpful in long-term cleansing.

6. Take a Probiotic
Beauty is rooted in gut health, so you really want to get your gut in order before your big day! The right kinds of probiotics are a powerful combination that promote beauty, improving your digestion, and leading significant improvements in your overall health, wellness, and beauty. I am a big fan of soil-based organism (SBO) probiotics, which mimic the natural beneficial bacteria found in soil that our ancestors used to ingest in small amounts on unwashed veggies from the garden.

7. Relax
To help manage potential pre-wedding jitters, you can practice meditation or yoga, enjoy quiet and solitude, listen to relaxing music, go for a walk, or work out.

Picking a destination for your honeymoon is an intimate and mostly private affair.  After you’ve been hitched, the destination you choose to escape to is usually unique and inspiring for you both to talk and get to understand the journey you’re about to go go on.

We found this interesting blog from Luxury Travel Diary and think these are great destinations to consider out of the norm for your special getaway.

Belize For Beaches, Jungle, Mayan Ruins & The World’s Second Largest Barrier Reef

Belize’s natural beauty rivals some of the world’s most sought-after playgrounds. It borders Mexico to the north and Guatemala to the east, and offers glorious beaches on the shores of the sparkling Caribbean sea. Belize is also the only Latin American country whose official language is English, which is useful for travellers from North America and the UK – but so far, it is not overrun by tourists.

Lush jungles with Mayan ruins coupled with pristine beaches and cayes provide endless exploration opportunities in Belize. On the coastline there is no better resort choice than Itz’ana Resort. Named after the Mayan god of day and night, Itz’ana offers beachside luxury and the perfect spot to experience the soul of Belize.

This resort is ideally located next to islands, beaches, rivers, jungle, caves and the world’s second largest barrier reef. 39 luxury boutique cottages and villas, designed for waterfront living, are set around the “Great House”, an ode to the great Caribbean estates of years past.

Just beyond the heavenly Itz’ana waters awaits an even more blissful escape. Their private island basking under the tropical Belizean sun. Here you can feast on an island picnic, sail a sundown yacht charter or even make it your own overnight campsite. And with the barrier reef as your backyard and pristine waters lapping on the shore, a trip here will make your Honeymoon truly special.

Da Nang Vietnam

Da Nang is a coastal city in central Vietnam known for its sandy beaches and history as a French colonial port. Although lacking in interesting sightseeing beyond strolling along the Han riverfront to take in its spectacular bridges and the vast China beach strip, it is well worth booking a night-time neon tour to see the city sparkle.

What is more interesting than the town itself is the local area surrounding Da Nang. It’s a popular base for visiting the inland Bà Nà hills, where the Hải Vân Pass has views of Da Nang Bay and the mysterious caves, grottoes and a Buddhist Pagoda that are hidden inside Marble Mountain

Stay on Son Tra Peninsula which rises 693m high above sea level. Here you can visit Linh Ung Bai But pagoda with its huge Lady Buddha statue, which is one of the tallest in Vietnam.

We are regulars at the Intercontinental Danang, located near the back of the Son Tra Peninsula. This stunning resort combines beach and rainforest and you are scooted about in golf carts (largely due to the steep nature of the mountains). You will not find anywhere else in the world that is quite like this and is bordered by a beautiful sandy beach which is fantastic for relaxing, swimming and honeymooning.

Miles & Miles Of Unspoiled Beach In Nicaragua

Although Nicaragua is bordered by the Caribbean to the east, there are some unbelievable beaches that can be found on it’s Pacific coast to the west. Located on the Pacific coast of Nicaragua, Hacienda & Ecolodge Morgan;s Rock sits on the edge of a 4,000-acre expanse of Nicaraguan jungle and on the shores of the most idyllic golden sand beach. In this private protected reserve, you can enjoy this private beach bordered by unspoilt lush jungle, along with all its associated wildlife.

Fifteen exquisite bungalows, constructed of natural materials are tucked gracefully into the jungle. Set into the treetops, each three-sided bungalow is perched on a cliff 30-100 feet over the private beach and cove, just across a 50 yard jungle suspension bridge. The balcony is a highlight, with a queen size day bed suspended by a thick marine rope. Enjoy a morning coffee, a glass of wine with the sunset, or a well-deserved nap in your day bed while soaking in stunning vistas and unparalleled wildlife. Expect to see howler monkeys, languorous sloths hanging from the trees, and a variety of vibrant tropical birds.

The mile-long stretch of sandy beach is great for surfing or body boarding during the day, strolls in the evenings and beach bonfires at night. The starlit beach is also the perfect place to witness baby turtles hatchlings scurrying out to sea – a truly unforgettable experience!

Golden Triangle, Thailand

Bring out the adventurer in you by heading to the Golden Triangle in Thailand. The Golden Triangle is a name that was introduced by the CIA in the 1920s, when this area was one of the world’s most prolific opium producers. The Golden Triangle sits in northern Thailand where borders converge with Laos and Burma and where the Ruak and Mekong rivers join.

Expect Lush jungle, mist-shrouded mountains, unspoiled tribal villages and peaceful views of rice paddies. Tucked away in the historic Golden Triangle region, the fantastically luxurious Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle is the perfect escape from the rest of the world.

Located within 40.4 miles from Chiang Rai International Airport, Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle overlooks the Mekong River and offers an all-inclusive package of elephant trekking, spa treatments, meals and round-trip airport transfer. 15 luxury tents feature a private balcony, air conditioning and a minibar. Guests can relax in a custom-made wooden hot tub on an outdoor deck or relax by the riverside free-form pool and a spa.

In line with all Four Seasons resorts, expect outstanding Four Seasons service and attention to detail, gourmet cuisine served in a variety of different locations and if you have ever dreamed of riding on an elephant, this is the place to do it!

Zanzibar For Reefs & Beaches

This beautiful island is often left off “top 10” lists as it has yet to become a mainstream destination and yet the beaches and reefs here match and even beat many beaches in the Maldives. The Park Hyatt Zanzibar is a great starting point for exploring this island, but for a true bare foot paradise experience, you should try the exclusive Diamonds Star of the East, a luxury sanctuary set on the north-western tip of Zanzibar.

Announcing Your Engagement

So you’ve both said, “YES!” to the lifelong journey together?  We’re sure you’re about ready and so excited to tell the world, but WAIT!

At this point, most people know that they should inform their nearest and dearest about their engagement before announcing it on social media. But what if a couple decides to never post about the proposal? It’s certainly not required, and some people have started to feel social media fatigue as it seems to take over our lives and interactions. Hoping to maintain some level of privacy, celebrities often keep engagement news private for a while, which is why rumors often start when a star is spotted with a ring on her left hand. In fact, Prince Harry & Meghan Markle waited about a month before sharing their happy news with the world. Public interest in the pair means many aspects of their wedding and engagement will likely become popular trends; so don’t be surprised if suddenly people stop rushing to change their relationship status on Facebook after a proposal.

Unless you are estranged from your family, it’s usually best to tell parents and siblings, even if you otherwise don’t want to announce the news. Keep in mind that if your beloved asked for the blessing of your parents, they are likely expecting to hear about the engagement any day now. If you want to stay in the post-proposal bubble for a while, it’s totally fine to keep things quiet for a few days. Just be cautious about going out in public with your ring on – you’d hate for your mom to hear about your engagement through the grapevine.

If you are telling your nearest and dearest, but otherwise want to keep the news quiet, don’t forget to clearly communicate that gossiping about your engagement is off limits. However, if you’re choosing to simply not make a big production out of the announcement, some family members will enjoy getting to share the news with people.

Should you have a plan to announce your engagement publically and you just wanted to wait a while, consider throwing a surprise engagement party! It’s still a good idea to tell immediate family and even best friends first, as they may be hurt to learn the news the same time as others. Or, if you don’t want to have a big celebration, you can simply have those closest to you over and then share the excitement all at once!

The excitement of spilling the beans about your engagement could bring up new suggestions from those you don’t need them from as well.  We’ve experienced couples that have spilled the beans too soon and we’re rushed or hurried to start retirement and life insurance planning before they even announced a date.  We’ve seen various professionals come out of the woodwork and propose products and services they’re not ready for.  Your engagement announcement could also come with those who wasn’t to be “Debbie Downers” in some way or another.  Your life is like a business, that’s why it’s called Personal Business.  Treat your personal business as that…think of the positives and negatives that come with the publicity of something.  Think of who may want to take advantage of you in situations like that before you make it global.  Getting engaged is like winning the lottery, if not better, so talk to those who are objective that can help structure your lives together so when you make the announcement, you’re prepared for the ones who wish you the best and those who may have alternative motives.

Your Certified Wedding Planner should have everyone from legal, mental health, medical and financial fields to refer you to so you can be better prepared for this journey together.  At CRE8AD8, we always suggest a healthy spirit, mind & body are a must before you can truly give yourself to someone else.

Avoid Being Late to Your Own Wedding

Ever have that feeling when you’re already running late for your own wedding?

The last thing any bride wants is to be late to her own wedding. As guests wait for the ceremony to begin, chatter may bring forth the idea that maybe she isn’t going to show up at all… when the real issue was that hair and makeup took longer than the itinerary dictated. To avoid keeping everyone waiting, a timeline is key. However, the most detailed timeline in the world won’t help you if it is unrealistic or doesn’t consider life’s little mishaps that can throw your schedule out of whack.

Following these tips will help make sure everyone walks down the aisle when they’re supposed to.

– Hire multiple stylists. Having more than one makeup artist or hairstylist comes with numerous benefits: It simply makes everything move faster, and if one person is late, the beauty routine won’t come to a complete standstill. Your bridesmaids will also appreciate not having to get up at the crack of dawn only to have to avoid messing up their look for hours before the ceremony.

– Don’t forget about food. Depending on your getting-ready timeline, you and your bridesmaids may be in the suite over both breakfast and lunch. It’s important not just to provide food, but also to allot for time to eat it! For especially large bridal parties, the stylist team will deserve a lunch break as well.

– Have a back-up plan. Say the makeup artist is an hour late because of a car accident on the freeway – shift the schedule around so that you’re ready on time for the “first look” and your ‘maids can meet up with you after. Let people know you need to do family portraits first and then do the bridal party pictures when everyone is ready.

– Last but not least, always have buffer time. Assume hair and makeup will take longer than your stylists say. Plan for photos running long, as well as terrible traffic on the way to your venue. You may end up having a lot of time to kill, but that’s better than being in a rush or arriving late. Use the extra time to meditate!

Ever wonder if your wedding is Royal enough or can compare to one that a Prince will have?

A wedding can easily increase in cost quickly due to the variables within the wedding itself.  Some costs are fixed and some variable, but the variable can be the ones you should be aware of.  The wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is expected to cost over $3,000,000,000 — yes BILLION!  Why?

When this Royal wedding takes place the wedding ceremony and reception itself can be in the six-figure range easily.  By London-based wedding planner’s accounts, it can be anywhere from $200,000USD to $600,000USD.  Our estimates as a US-based company, we figure the same when you account for various venue locations, food, beverage, floral, photography, video, entertainment and much more.  With the guest count be about 300-500, that’s about $600 to $1,000 cost per guest!

Security will also be a major factor and is expected to be around $5 MILLION for overtime and additional measures to be taken as members of the Royal family receive elevated measures.

The major cost actually comes from the residents of Britain as an economic impact to the country.  When Royal weddings took place in the past with Princess Diana, Princess Anne, Prince William & now Prince Harry, Brits received a day off as a national holiday, adding an estimated $3 BILLION in economic loss!

Add that all up and this wedding will cost about $6,000,000 PER PERSON!

Does your wedding compare?  On average, a wedding in the USA costs about $28,000, so that’s a major difference!
